GauchoSpace Grading Tips: As the quarter begins we recommend reviewing these tips for assessment and grading in GauchoSpace. Any questions about grading and assessment in GauchoSpace can be directed to help@collaborate.ucsb.edu.
Instructional Development has new 2-3 minute videos to help you and your TAs get this quarter off to a great start:
- Pacing your lessons
- Key habits of good discussion leaders
- Class collaboration on Google Docs
- Motivating students to learn
The Sustainable Technology Repair Initiative (STRI) is a brand new, student-led resource to support UCSB students when the digital device(s) they use on a daily basis for learning and life break-down. Students can sign-up for a free 30 minute, one-on-one consultation with a fellow student to troubleshoot an issue, learn how to speed up a slow device guided by a fellow student. This resource will be available throughout Spring quarter, including finals week.
Gradescope Tips and Techniques: some valuable insights and ideas from the recent Gradescope User Summit. Instructors presented on a variety of topics including:
- Building community in online classes
- Gradescope in large courses
- Tracking learning outcomes with tags in Gradescope
- Student-centered active learning strategies
- Maintaining integrity in assessment
- Gradescope for digital assessment

Academic Senate Virtual Town Hall Meeting on Planning for Fall 2021 Teaching
Thursday April 8, 1-3pm
As we plan for a return to largely in-person activities on our campus this fall, the Academic Senate and the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor invite UC Santa Barbara instructors to attend a faculty Town Hall meeting that will describe and discuss issues related to instructional planning, public health considerations, and new modes of teaching, among others.
