Dear Colleagues,

We hope you got some down time during the weekend to enjoy the sunshine. This is the Instructional Technology Team update for Monday morning, 3/23

IMPORTANT: Panopto/GauchoCast Server Migration: The GauchoCast/Panopto server is being migrated to the cloud from 6am Monday through 6pm Tuesday. The server will be offline during the upgrade. DON’T PANIC!  You can record videos “Offline” and store them on your computer.

IMPORTANT: GauchoSpace update. GauchoSpace will be unavailable Thursday, March 26 from 6 am to 2 pm for systems updates and maintenance. More info about the update here.

TA resources: By Wed, 3/25, we will have a new tutorial designed to help TAs learn strategies for online teaching and technologies that support these approaches.  Within this tutorial will be opportunities for TAs to practice using the technologies and to ask questions. The new tutorial will be linked on the Instructional Continuity Site and announced on Grad Post.  TAs can get up to speed on GauchoCast and Zoom by joining the self-guided “Teaching with GauchoCast and Zoom” GauchoSpace site.

Drop-in hours with Mindy Colin, Lisa Berry, Linda Adler-Kassner, and Maggie Safronova are posted on this calendar, which is part of the Instructional Continuity Site. We will add drop in hours through next week and each week of the term as needed.

COLLABORATE Faculty Resource Center staff are available daily to assist with GauchoSpace questions and provide one-on-one consultations via Zoom Monday-Friday 10am-4pm. Submit a help ticket or schedule a consultation with the staff here.

As you plan your course, remember that there are extensive resources to help on the redesigned Instructional Continuity site. This includes information about how to plan and teach your course, design your GauchoSpace site, and more.

Coming mid-late week:
Nectir channels for help requests, monitored regularly. More updates coming soon.

We’ll have more for you through the week. In the meantime, thank you again for your amazing work over the past week and for your dedication to UCSB and our students.

Best,
The Instructional Support Team
