We are writing to follow up on the call in EVC Marshall's Letters and Science briefing to review curriculum and pedagogical models in the context of enrollment needs, student success, and the availability of teaching assistants.

We would like to schedule a time to talk with you/department colleagues about needs and options to support your curricular and pedagogical goals for undergraduates. We would especially like to focus these discussions on large-enrollment courses. In this first discussion, we would like to hear about the learning goals associated with these courses and the instructional teams (faculty, TAs, undergraduate mentors/learning assistants if applicable) available to support those goals.  Following this initial discussion, we hope to work with instructors to consider how we can provide support for pedagogies and course structures to advance and deepen these goals, supporting instructors’ activities and students’ success.

It would be most helpful if we could have this initial discussion in late Fall or early Winter quarter. We would be happy to meet with you and any members of your department you would like to include.

Please contact Kaitlin Segovia in the EVC’s office (kaitlinsegovia@ucsb.edu) to schedule a 45 minute meeting. When you write to Kaitlin with a scheduling request, please include the names of all department members who will join the discussion.

Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to talking with you.
