********************************************************************************

Dear faculty member or researcher,

In December 2021 UCSB hosted the inaugural Data Science Summit (https://datascience.ucsb.edu/summit21). Its primary goals were to 1) convene data science practitioners, researchers, and educators from departments campus-wide, and 2) highlight the breadth of data science-related research, methods, pedagogy, and experiences at UCSB.

There were over 100 attendees (you may have been one of them) and it was widely considered a success, with 86% of respondents to a post-summit survey agreeing or strongly agreeing that the summit was worthwhile and informative.

With that background, a group of organizers have begun exploring the possibility of holding a second Data Science Summit sometime this year. At this point, we would like to gauge interest and potential topics. Your response will greatly help set the direction and scope of a future conference. Please respond by February 9.
