Course Site Creation in Canvas for Spring 2024 Courses
Spring 2024 Course site creation is now available for individuals who are listed as instructors of record by accessing the UCSB Tools menu in Canvas. Instructors who teach multiple courses but want to use one Canvas course site (with the rosters combined) are able to merge their rosters prior to course creation. If you are an Instructor of Record and do not see a course you expect to teach, please contact your department administrator to get listed as an instructor with the Registrar.
Students and TAs are added to Canvas from the Registrar data when course sites are created, but a Canvas site needs to be published in order for students to receive notifications for announcements.
Sandbox sites for testing and creating other future content
Instructors can now create a Sandbox site from the UCSB Course site creator tool for testing or developing future course content. When creating a Sandbox site, instructors can automatically apply one of the UCSB Canvas templates.
Access to Past Course Content from GauchoSpace
We have created an administrative archive to house all GauchoSpace course materials from Summer 2015 for future use in Canvas. Instructors can now see a list of their past courses from GauchoSpace in the course site creator and can request that support staff migrate these older course materials into Canvas by emailing help@collaborate.ucsb.edu
