Re: UCSB Education Abroad Program Faculty Director Announcement
Professor Juan Campo has informed us that he plans to step down as the director of our campus Education Abroad Program on June 30, 2023, after 13 years of distinguished service. Under Professor Campo’s leadership, UCSB EAP has increased enrollment and maintained its status as the gold standard across the UC system. Particularly impressive was how the program rebounded from the COVID pandemic, increasing its enrollment from 0 participants in 2020-21 to 952 participants this year. Among Juan’s many achievements was the establishment of scholarship opportunities for our EAP students. These include the Freeman Foundation Internship Program, a grant that provides scholarships for students that intern in East Asia, and the Griffiths Foundation EAP Scholarship program for students studying in Asia. We thank Juan for his invaluable service and his lasting contributions to the campus.
We are now seeking a new Faculty Director of the UCSB Education Abroad Program. The position profile is attached. We hope that faculty will consider this unique opportunity to work with our students and help fulfill our mission as a global university.
