Re: Announcement of New Financial System

We are pleased to announce the campus has selected the PeopleSoft/Oracle on Demand Financial System, a leading provider of web-based financial system software.  The PeopleSoft/Oracle system will provide the campus with better tools for decision-making, a newer, more sustainable technology, and facilitate integration with the new UC human resources and payroll system (UC PATH).

The PeopleSoft system is currently in use at UC Riverside, UC San Francisco, and UC Berkeley.  As we move forward with implementation, we will partner with our sister campuses to learn from their experiences, and leverage their knowledge.

Implementation of a new financial system comes at a time when the campus will be undergoing additional implementations, including the UC PATH project, the new systemwide payroll and personnel system, and Gateway, the new e-procurement system.  The formation of a Project Management Office is underway to help coordinate all of these efforts and minimize the impact on campus staff.

We are in the planning phase of the financial system project right now, which includes identifying and selecting a vendor to assist with implementation.  In addition, we are working to finalize the project website, which will serve as one channel to help disseminate information and keep the campus informed about the project.  Also planned are town hall meetings, focus groups, and regular updates to the campus.  We anticipate starting implementation in late fall, but will have more specific details in an upcoming announcement to campus.
