This week’s updates:

GauchoSpace Gradebook setup and displaying your grades to students

As assessments and activity grades continue to come in, it can be helpful to display grades for students to monitor their progress in their courses. If you haven’t already, now is a good time to finalize setting up your GauchoSpace gradebook and to look at how you are displaying your grades for students and how the hierarchy of your gradebook is set. You can even set your course up to exclude future empty grade items so the gradebook will show students a current course total. Email help@collaborate.ucsb.edu for more assistance or to schedule a Zoom consultation about your gradebook setup.

Upcoming Core Router Upgrade Work:  On Thursday, October 22, 2020, from 12:01 to 5:30 a.m., ETS will perform updates to the campus core routers. They anticipate six disruptions of the campus network of up to 10 minutes each.  These updates address software defects discovered during the core network upgrade. They will continue to update the campus community via email, at it.ucsb.edu, status.ucsb.edu, and on the UCSB IT LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter pages as they complete this work. Subscribe to  status.ucsb.edu to receive UCSB service impact notices.

Reminder: Asynchronous Classes/No Required Synchronous Meetings (but optional encouraged!)
If your class is listed as being offered asynchronously, please do not require students to participate in synchronous meetings/activities. Optional gatherings, on the other hand, are encouraged. Students will welcome the opportunity to connect when/if possible!

Wishing everyone a good rest of the week,

The IS Team
