Re: Gaucho U Learning and Leadership Opportunity

This fall, we are excited to offer an innovative training opportunity open to all staff, called Gaucho U. The Gaucho U pilot is a cohort-based training and development certificate program founded on the new UC Core Competency Model.  It has been designed through collaboration with Human Resources, the Chancellor’s Staff Advisory Council, Staff Assembly, Administrative Services, Housing and Residential Services, and the Vice Chancellors.

The pilot program is intended to connect participants in an ongoing leadership and learning environment focused on the following UC Core Competencies:

  • Effective communication
  • Diversity and inclusion
  • Innovation and change management
  • Teamwork and collaboration

For this initial pilot year, the Gaucho U curriculum will focus on the grand topic of change readiness. As we embark on several major system implementation projects, our campus leadership realizes the importance of providing new skills and tools to all of our valued colleagues to successfully manage and adapt to change.  Santa Barbara City College faculty will lead the courses in collaboration with top UCSB facilitators and guest presenters.

The program will be run in cohorts of 12 people, and consists of an orientation, five courses strategically sequenced throughout a six-month period, and a closing learning-culmination session.

Participants who are interested in leadership, campus networking, developing foundational core competencies, and effective change management are encouraged to enroll.

We are looking for staff with a mix of experience and levels.  Please consider this opportunity for your employees.  If the cost of this program is a barrier for your department, please consider having your department contact your control point for funding assistance.

Registration is open now through September 7, 2102.  Gaucho U program details and enrollment instructions are available at:
