A Program Overview

UCSB’s Faculty Mentoring Program is available to every cohort of new incoming faculty, with a focus on assistant professors and assistant teaching professors. The program matches each new faculty member with a network of mentors called the “Launch” committee. Throughout the academic year, the mentoring program director and AVC for Academic Personnel work to ensure that “Launch” committees provide consistent, supportive mentorship and coaching to new faculty. The mentoring program works in collaboration with the offices of the EVC and AVC on a beginning-of-the-year New Faculty orientation and also offers new faculty the opportunity to attend professional development workshops throughout the year, social events each quarter, and an end-of-the-year reception.
