Re: | IMPORTANT: Student Information Systems Conversion Project -- Go-Live Schedule |
The Student Information System (SIS) conversion project is nearing completion and the systems are scheduled for migrating off the mainframe and production release in about two weeks.
The affected systems will be taken down at 5:00 pm on Wednesday, February 13th, 2013 and the cutover is expected to be completed by 11:00 pm on Monday, February 18th, 2013 (Presidents’ Day holiday).
A complete listing of mainframe and web applications that will be affected by this switch-over may be found below as well as on the SIS&T Project website. This means that if your department relies heavily on any of these systems, you will not be able to carry on business as usual on Thursday, February 14th or Friday, February 15th, and staff may need to be given alternate work. The Enrollment Services cluster and some other related departments will be closed to the public on those days.
NOTE: Most non-mainframe based or mainframe-related campus systems and applications will remain available during the conversion cutover. The unaffected campus systems include: email and calendaring systems, LDAP, GauchoSpace, Student Health systems, Student Housing systems, eProcurement Gateway, PPS, Connexxus, Data Warehouse, etc.
The project team is offering open training sessions for the converted systems (iSIS). There are still 3 remaining sessions. Because the screens and overall application layout in the converted systems are nearly identical to those on the mainframe, these sessions will focus on the user interface differences between the old and new systems and will not be addressing the functionality of individual screens.
Training schedule:
Wednesday, February 6th | 1:30 pm | SSMS 1303 (Social Sciences and Media Studies Building) |
Thursday, February 7th | 3:00 pm | Visitor Center |
Monday, February 25th | 1:30 pm | Visitor Center |
If you have not been involved in iSIS testing and you use any of these systems, we strongly suggest that you attend one of these training sessions. Email Anthony Schmid (anthony.schmid@sa.ucsb.edu) to RSVP for the date you are planning to attend or if you have any questions about the training sessions.
Important note for those unable to attend a training session:
The new systems are web based and will use UCSBNetID for login. Please make sure you and your staff that currently use the mainframe have your UCSBNetIDs activated and know your passwords. Users will no longer be able to login to the converted applications using a Complete ID; however their Complete ID’s will be mapped to their UCSBNetIDs and still will be used within the systems.
