March 19, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
Thanks for your dedicated efforts. We’ve enjoyed seeing you in workshops and over Zoom. This is the update for March 18-19.
The Instructional Continuity Site should be your first stopping place for resources. We are constantly adding and making improvements.
Preparing for Remote Instruction (video) is now available. We will also post it to the Instructional Continuity Site.
Workshops: Continue to check the Google doc for workshops. Note that moving forward, workshops will only be hosted remotely (see googledoc for information on how to join). There will not be any face to face group workshops for the foreseeable future.
Instructional Consulting/Advising: We also have a Google Calendar with links to the remote workshops and appointment slots for 1-1 or 1-small-peer-group instructional advising.
Self-guided resources: We are creating a number of self-guided resources that you can use on your own. These include:
A new self-guided site (on GauchoSpace) for creating GauchoCast videos and using Zoom.
A template message that faculty can use/adapt to introduce their courses to students.
A “minimum” GauchoSpace site. This has information about what you should include in your GauchoSpace site and links to helpful resources.
GauchoCast update:
On March 23, GauchoCast will be migrated to the cloud to increase speed and capacity. If it’s possible to hold off on uploading videos until then, you’ll experience much faster processing. Note that you can save videos on your local computer.
On the horizon:
- Workshops specific to TA for hosting remote discussion sections
- Information for students about remote learning
- (Online) guides for helping students learn how to learn remotely
We’ll send more updates as we have them. In the meantime, thank you for all you’re doing.
