Dear Colleagues,
Week 1 is nearly in the books! Congratulations on all you’re doing. Now that we’re reaching the week’s end, some reminders and updates.
Encourage your students. Remember that remote learning is new for them, too. Students really appreciate it when you acknowledge their efforts. You might send a quick email praising them for finishing the week. It’s helpful to remind students that this might feel different, that assignments and activities _are_ low stakes, that they can develop rhythms (as you have in your courses), and that they can do it! You can also point them to helpful resources -- office hours and support included in the keepteaching.id.ucsb.edu site are great places to start.
DSP accommodations. A reminder that students requesting DSP accommodations to ensure accessibility should submit through the DSP website.
Some updates on technologies: usage and trainings

Wondering which ways you can record video, and where you should upload it?
Here’s a handy reference guide to Video Tech Comparison at UCSB to help you decide.
Equipment Loans for Instruction: Instructional Development has a pool of document cameras, webcams, headphone microphones, and hopefully soon, laptops available to loan to faculty either as needed or for the quarter. To submit a request, or check on availability: Submit a help ticket to UCSB Support Desk Collaboration or email help@id.ucsb.edu.
Webcast Recording Rooms Available in Kerr Hall: There are two fully equipped, sound proof, single person recording booths available for faculty in Kerr Hall. We can also open up a couple of other distance safe recording spaces, depending on demand. If you are interested in using one of these spaces, please contact Todd GIlepie at gillespie@ucsb.edu directly. Please provide at least 48 hours advanced notice so that he can manage the scheduling, and client spacing appropriately.
We’ll be back with you next week!
