Dear Faculty,

Although we are unable to hold the Library’s annual book giveaway inside the Library Paseo this year, the Library is making the UCSB Reads 2021 book, When They Call You A Terrorist: A Black Lives Matter Memoir by Patrisse Cullors, accessible to students and for your classes in several ways:

PRINT COPIES

The Library is partnering with the Campus Store to distribute free print copies of the book to any student living near campus during scheduled walk up hours of 11AM-1PM daily during the week of January 11, 2021.

Faculty who are considering incorporating the book into a winter or spring course can have a copy mailed to their home address by writing UCSBReads@library.ucsb.edu.

In addition, UCSB Library has four print copies that are available through our Pickup and Mailing Service.

ELECTRONIC COPIES

The Library will provide free electronic copies of the book to all students reading the book as part of a class. Students can either read the book on their device by downloading the Glose app, or they can read it within GauchoSpace.  More information about accessing eBooks will be posted here soon.

If you have decided to incorporate the UCSB Reads book into a 2021 winter or spring class, please contact UCSB Reads at UCSBReads@library.ucsb.edu with the course title, quarter, expected enrollment, and total number of copies needed.
