******************************
Dear Colleagues,
The Instructional Support Team realized that it scheduled two events on Yom Kippur - apologies! Please note rescheduled dates for the Masks and Mics Demo Day and Designing Courses For Resilience, below.
Hope to see you there!
Masks and Mics Demo Day: Friday, September 17, Girvetz 1004
Get comfortable teaching with masks and mics! All classrooms with PA systems are equipped for microphones. Register for a 2-hour time-window and bring your masks to try with different options -- wired lectern mics, wireless lapel mics, or wireless over-ear (boom) mics (limited supply). If you’re teaching in a smaller classroom without a PA system, you can also test out a USB mic and a webcam with a built-in mic. If you have your own mic, you are welcome to bring it to test its compatibility with the classroom technology. If you’re not able to make the Masks and Mics demo, you can schedule a Classroom Meet-and-Greet with Instructional Development.
Designing Courses for Resilience (faculty panel discussion)
Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1-2:30 PM (PST)
Registration link here
During this faculty panel discussion, instructors who have participated in the RISE Institute (Reimagining Instruction for the Student Experience) will share ideas for designing courses that are resilient to the type of disruptions that UCSB has seen over the past 5 years: fire, flood, mudslides, national upheaval around race, power and privilege, and the covid 19 pandemic. Participants will brainstorm about challenges that
we face in the coming year, and how to design for student success in the face of uncertainty.
