Updates from the IS Team:

Media Equipment (ID Classroom Services) Hours, week of January 17
Due to limited staffing, the ID Classroom Services Office (Media Equipment Office) is operating under reduced hours. The Classroom Services Office (Kerr 1160) will be open for equipment pick-up Monday - Friday 10:00am - 12:00pm. For assistance outside of office hours, please contact help@id.ucsb.edu or call the office at x3549.

UCSB Library Updates
The Library is expanding its utilization of Kanopy streaming licenses for instructional purposes. The Library will purchase Kanopy streaming licenses even for films in the physical collection in order to provide for the quickest and broadest accessibility of streaming media for teaching. Many Kanopy streaming licenses can be obtained and delivered on the same day as requested. Instructors can request Kanopy streaming licenses through the Library’s Course Reserves system. The Library will fill up to 9 requests per quarter as long as a Kanopy streaming license exists. This is a practice we hope to continue beyond the current remote instruction period; we will be monitoring usage for sustainability within our budget. This Films for Teaching guide provides instructions on placing Course Reserves requests for films.

For this quarter, due to continued pandemic conditions, the Library is also reinstating our partnership with Instructional Development Video Services to have them digitize films currently in our collection for uploading into GauchoSpace course sites. This will be for films in our collection for which a Kanopy streaming license does not exist. Once Library Course Reserves staff inform you that a Kanopy streaming license is not available, you should contact Instructional Development Video Services to initiate a digitization request from the Library’s collection. Instructional Development and Library Course Reserves staff will work together to fulfill these requests.

More as we learn it!
