Dear Instructors,

In preparation for Spring Quarter, we invite you to our General Assignment Classrooms Open House on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. During this time, all General Assignment classrooms will be open for you to explore, test the A/V equipment, and get hands-on experience with the technology. This is an opportunity for both new and returning instructors to get familiar with classroom setups to ensure a smooth start to the quarter.

The Instructional Development Classroom Services Team will be available throughout the Open House to answer any A/V questions and provide support.

For assistance during the Open House or anytime you need help:

For classes in the Interactive Learning Pavilion (ILP):

We encourage you to bring any devices you plan to use in your classes, such as laptops or tablets, and drop by your assigned classroom on March 24th. For the most up-to-date information on using the lecterns and other classroom resources, please refer to the Campus Classrooms Website at: https://classrooms.ucsb.edu.

Recent Change in the Classrooms:

  • Sign-In with Your UCSBnetID: Sign in to General Assignment classroom lectern computers using your UCSBnetID credentials—no more trips to the Instructional Development office to create or reset lectern logins! If you'd like to confirm that your account has these permissions to sign into the lectern computers, please reach out to help@classrooms.ucsb.edu or call (805) 893-3549.
  • Keyless Operation: All A/V systems in General Assignment classrooms are now keyless. Classroom equipment will unlock 30 minutes before your scheduled class, allowing you to access the equipment without a lectern key. Equipment in the rooms will lock after the last class of the day, unless previously arranged. 
  • Wireless Microphone: Rooms with seating for 75 or more have wireless microphones. We ask for your help to return microphones to their chargers after use to keep them ready for the next instructor. Look for the green light to confirm the microphones are charging.
  • Height-Adjustable Lecterns: 56% of all GA classrooms now feature height-adjustable lecterns, with plans to upgrade remaining classroom lecterns in the coming years.
