Re: Summer Sessions Director

Following a national search and campus consultation, I am pleased to announce that Blake Nemelka has been appointed as the Director of Summer Sessions, effective May 22, 2017. Blake Nemelka is currently Director of Summer Session at Purdue University. He has undergraduate degrees in Business Administration, International Business, and Marketing from Utah State University and a Master’s of Education in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University, and he is completing a dissertation in Learning Design and Technology at Purdue University. In addition to his Summer Session position, Blake also has experience working in Enrollment Services.

I am very grateful to Dr. James Ford, Associate Director of Summer Sessions, for taking on the role and responsibilities of Acting Director since Cindy Bumgarner’s departure, and for helping to ensure a smooth transition. We appreciate his many contributions to Summer Sessions and to the campus and look forward to working with him in the future.

I want to thank the search committee, chaired by Professor Jeffrey Stopple, Interim CoDean of Undergraduate Education. The membership is listed below.

Please join me in welcoming Mr. Nemelka to UC Santa Barbara. Thank you.
