I am pleased to announce that after a nationwide search, Claire Driscoll has been selected and will serve as the new Director of Technology & Industry Alliances (TIA) in the Office of Research.

Claire previously served as the Director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)'s Technology Transfer Office since 2002, where she was responsible for oversight of the Institute's intramural patent and licensing portfolio as well as negotiation and management of research collaborations between NHGRI scientists and their industry and academic partners. Prior to joining NHGRI Claire spent almost five years as a Senior Technology Development Manager with the National Institutes of Health (NIH)'s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Earlier in her career she spent four years working as a biologist in a National Institute of Child Health and Human Development laboratory at NIH.

Claire has given presentations, primarily on biomedical technology transfer and related intellectual property, collaboration agreement negotiation and licensing topics, at many conferences including US Patent and Trademark Organization (PTO), Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) and Licensing Executives Society (LES) sponsored events. She has served as a member of various non-profit and governmental advisory committees including the LES US & Canada, LES International and AUTM annual conference planning groups.

Claire holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Biology from the University of Notre Dame and a M.S. degree in Biotechnology Studies (with an emphasis on commercialization in the life sciences sector) from the University of Maryland Global Campus.

Claire is an accomplished technology transfer and licensing professional who is recognized as a thought leader in the field. Throughout her career she has given many guest lectures, published articles and served as a panelist at numerous conferences and academic institutions around the world. We are excited to have her join us as a facilitator, problem-solver and strong advocate for researchers.
