2023-24 Workshops

In Praise of Binge Writing - A Workshop
April 15, 2024, 12 noon

Facilitated by Jane Ward, professor and chair of Feminist Studies and a proud immersive writer

We've all heard the maxim that faculty should sit down to write every day, even if for a short period of time. But what about those of us who don't, or can't, engage in daily writing? Teaching, service duties, family obligations, exhaustion, distraction, and writer's block can cause days and weeks to go by without writing, leading to feelings of guilt. This workshop offers an effective alternative to daily writing, explores the characteristics of immersive writers (as opposed to daily writers), and offers practical guidance for how to be a happy, guilt-free, and productive binge writer.
