I am very pleased to announce two recent appointments in the Division of Academic Affairs:
Academic Personnel Director
Cindy Ponce has accepted the position of Director of Academic Personnel. She is well prepared to manage the full range of policies and processes related to academic personnel advancement, having served in the Academic Personnel office since 1994, most recently as the Acting Director for Academic Personnel and previously as the Associate Director. Cindy has been with the University since 1985, with periods of service in the Department of Medicine at UCLA and the School of Pharmacy at UCSF prior to coming to our campus. Director of Academic Administration
Carol Houchens has accepted the position of Director of Academic Administration. Carol will assist with the oversight of issues involving space management, administrator appointments and compensation, academic FTE, staff personnel programs, and general administration of the division. Carol has been a member of the UC community for 26 years and has served as the Human Resources Information Systems Manager since 1989. She first joined UCSB as a Programmer & Systems Analyst in 1984, after 6 years at UC Riverside and the University of Southern California. Carol may be reached at carol.houchens@evc.ucsb.edu or x2010.
Both Cindy and Carol bring extraordinary expertise, commitment and vision to these positions. We believe that their appointments will provide a significant enhancement to the services that our office can provide to UC Santa Barbara.
