As Summer Session A winds down, a few updates on upgrades and a note about Google JamBoard.

Google JamBoard is a collaborative brainstorming application that can function like a classroom whiteboard. It’s available through UCSB Google accounts. You can read more about using Jamboard and Zoom here; a new Collaborate help resource focusing on Jamboard is coming soon.

Upgrades

Campus Core Router Migration Work - On July 29 between 12:01 and 5 a.m., plan for a network outage. On August 3 between 12:01 and 7 a.m., plan for a network outage.

Campus VPN Service Upgrade - On Saturday, August 1, 2020, between 7:00-7:45 am PDT, the VPN appliances providing the Campus VPN Service will be updated to the latest software version from Pulse Secure. This software version is supposed to correct an identified kernel bug that had caused frequent connectivity problems and VPN cluster outages (and lots of grief) during the last 2 1/2 months. No specific user action is required. You may experience a short (5-10 second) network outage if you are connected as your connection is moved from one server to another.

August 2020 Panopto (GauchoCast) Downtime: On Saturday, August 15, Panopto will be making a number of updates to the Panopto Cloud infrastructure to improve performance and scalability. These updates will require downtime. We will announce the exact time and expected duration of the downtime closer to the downtime date.
